Thập giá trong cuộc đời này thì đa dạng và phong phú, ai ai cũng có, từ trong nhà ra ngoài xã hội, nơi sở làm, ở văn phòng, ở trong dòng tu, trong giáo xứ…đâu đâu cũng thấy những gánh nặng lớn nhỏ (tạm gọi là những thập giá!).

• Khi sanh ra một đứa con bệnh hoạn, tật nguyền, hoặc phải chăm sóc cho chồng/vợ bị đau yếu, liệt lào …
• Khi chồng vợ, nghiện ngập rượu chè, cờ bạc, xì ke, ma tuý, bất tín bất trung…
• Khi con cháu lười biếng, bỏ học, chơi bời lêu lỏng, bỏ lễ, bỏ nhà thờ…
• Khi cha mẹ bất hòa, cãi cọ, mạt sát nhau, chửi bới nhau, ly thân, ly dị …
• Khi cha mẹ chỉ biết đến tiền và tiền, quanh năm chỉ biết lao đầu vào làm ăn, lo kiếm tiền không có thời giờ để chăm sóc, gần gũi, lắng nghe và tâm sự với con cái…
• Khi sống ở một thành phố mất an ninh, mất trật tự, tỉ lệ tội phạm ngày càng gia tăng, biểu tình, đốt phá, cướp bóc, làm cho xã hội bất an và hoảng loạn suốt ngày này qua ngày nọ…

Còn nhiều loại thập giá lắm! Nếu phải liệt kê ra thì tôi e rằng cả thế giới cũng không đủ chỗ chứa.

We all have our crosses to bear, and these crosses come in different shapes and forms. They can originate from home, from society, at a workplace, in a convent/monastery, in a parish…We will encounter crosses of varying sizes (so-called crucifix!).

• When having a sick child, or caring for a spouse with chronic illness, or personal health problems…
• When a spouse or child is addicted to substance abuse, alcohol, gambling, disloyal, unfaithful…
• When children/grandchildren are lethargic, dropping out of school, playing fast and loose, stop attending Mass, going to Church…
• When When parents’ marital status is discord, fighting, quarreling,
assaulting, separation, and ultimately, divorce…
• When parents care more for money, become workaholics, and
neglect their responsibility to care for their children, failing to see their children’s need for guidance and love because they do not have time to spend with them, listening to them and trying to understand what they may be coping with…
• When living in a city with urban insecurity, chaos, crime rates are increasing, protesting, incinerating, mugging, these acts of civil disobedience currently roiling the society with anxiety and distress day after day…

There are many more crosses! However, if I continue to list them, I am afraid there would not be enough space in this world to do so.
